Just put in your date of birth and find out your exact age, which day you were born on, and how many days are left for your next birthday.
By default this is set to today. Change it only if you want your age on some other date.
This age calculator tells you exactly how old you are. Just put in your date of birth and you get your age in years, months and days, the day of the week you were born on, your age counted in total days, weeks, months and hours, and how many days are left for your next birthday.
By default it works out your age as on today. But you can change the "as on" date to any date you want, which really helps when an exam form or admission form asks for your age on a fixed date like 1 August or 1 January.
How to use the age calculator
- Enter your date of birth as day, month and year.
- Leave the "as on" date as today, or change it if you want your age on some other date.
- You instantly get your exact age, plus your age in total days, weeks, months and hours, the day you were born on, and your next birthday.
How to calculate age from date of birth
Your age is simply the time that has passed between your date of birth and the date you are checking. The calculator first counts the full years, then the months left over, and then the remaining days. This is the same way age is written on Indian documents and exam forms, so the number you see here is the number they will use.
The tricky part is that every month has a different number of days, and leap years add an extra day in February. Doing this by hand is where people make mistakes. The calculator handles all of that for you, so the day count always comes out correct.
Running age vs completed age
You will often hear two terms, completed age and running age, and it helps to know the difference. Completed age is the full years you have already finished, so if you have crossed 24 birthdays, your completed age is 24. Running age is the year you are currently in, which is just one more, so the same person is running 25.
Most forms and exams ask for completed age, which is the years part this calculator shows. The running age is simply your completed age plus one.
How old am I in days, weeks and months?
Sometimes you do not want years, you want the bigger numbers. The calculator also gives your whole life counted in total months, total weeks, total days and total hours. So if you are wondering how many days old you are, or you want to tell someone how many weeks old your baby is, the answer is right there in the result.
These totals are exact, not rough estimates, because every leap year in between is counted. That one detail is what separates a correct day count from a wrong one.
Calculating your age on an exam cut-off date
This is the part Indian students use the most. Almost every government exam and admission form asks for your age "as on" a fixed date, not today. Just set the "calculate age as on" date to the date in your notification, and the result becomes your exact age on that day. And if you are applying for a sarkari job, the age calculator for government jobs goes one step further and checks your full eligibility with category relaxation.
Finding someone else’s age from their date of birth
The calculator is not only for your own age. You can put in anyone’s date of birth, a child, a parent, a friend, even a public figure, and find out exactly how old they are today. It works the same way for any date of birth you enter.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my age from my date of birth?
Just enter your day, month and year of birth. The calculator subtracts your date of birth from today and shows your exact age in years, months and days, along with the totals in months, weeks, days and hours. Leap years are already included, so you get an exact result.
How old am I in days?
The calculator shows your age as a total number of days, and also as total weeks, months and hours, not just years. For example, someone who is 25 years old has lived around 9,131 days, and the tool gives the exact figure for your own date of birth.
What is the difference between running age and completed age?
Completed age is the number of full years you have finished, which is the years figure shown here. Running age is the year you are currently in, which is just one more. So a person who has completed 24 years is running 25.
Can I find my age on a future or past date?
Yes. Change the "calculate age as on" date to any date, past or future, and you get your age on that exact day. This is the same feature students use to check their age on an exam cut-off date.
Which day of the week was I born on?
The result shows the exact day, like a Tuesday or a Friday, worked out straight from the calendar with leap years accounted for.
Does the calculator handle leap years correctly?
Yes. Every leap year between your date of birth and the chosen date is counted, so your age in days and the other totals are always exact.
